This option is useful to exclude obsolete computer accounts from Active Directory. You also have the option to fetch custom Active Directory Attributes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1333\" height=\"799\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-71.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1725\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the&nbsp;<strong>Sun<\/strong>\u2600&nbsp;icon and select the Active Directory container that you want to include in the discovery process<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1360\" height=\"988\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-72.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1726\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Install Client<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-73.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1727\" width=\"773\" height=\"580\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the task was successfully created, I was unable to observe the installation of the SCCM client on the targeted client machine. Upon further investigation into the CCM.log file, I encountered the following errors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2124\" height=\"616\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-74.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1728\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It appears that the SCCM machine account is attempting to authenticate against the target machine but is failing due to permission issues. To address this, I granted the SCCM machine account full control over the domain container and set advanced permissions to apply to all descendant objects. This step is likely necessary to fulfill prerequisite checks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2059\" height=\"766\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-75.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1729\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Granting the machine account full control over my domain container did not completely resolve the issue. When I initiated another client installation request, I still encountered an error related to &#8216;NetUseAdd&#8217;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2083\" height=\"678\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-76.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1730\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon research, it appears that this error is linked to account permissions. The Client Push Installation account needs to be a member of the built-in local administrators group on the computers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Client Installation Settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Subsequently, I discovered that I hadn&#8217;t configured the client installation settings, meaning that my Client Push Installation account was not customized. Therefore, I attempted to reconfigure the client installation to observe the outcome:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2041\" height=\"1030\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-77.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1731\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I also attempted to ping my client machines and found that the domain firewall was active, which contributed to the issue when accessing the administrative share named admin$.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After resolving the connection issue between SCCM and the client, I confirmed that the CCMSETUP was successfully deployed to the client machine, as evident from the following path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1170\" height=\"549\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-78.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1732\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After waiting for some time, I found that all the powered-on machines have successfully installed the client:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1251\" height=\"621\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-80.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1743\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the Entra ID, I can now see that the status of MDM has changed to <strong>Microsoft Configuration Manger<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ruianding.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/image-81.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1745\" width=\"939\" height=\"37\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Configure Discovery Methods Discovery methods &#8211; Configuration Manager | Microsoft Learn Discovers computers in your organization from specified locations in Active Directory.
